Manufacturers to access free online business development training

Manufacturers can now access free business development training online via the Australian Government’s Manufacturing Academy.

The resource — launched by the government’s Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) on Tuesday — includes six training modules focused on competitiveness, resilience, workforce, product value, exports and state of manufacturing, according to Federal Minister for Industry Science and Technology Karen Andrews.

The content, delivered “by manufacturers for manufacturers” aims to help companies successfully compete in local and international markets.

“Australia’s manufacturing industry is a key driver of our economy and the Morrison government is committed to improving the competitive advantage of our businesses so they can thrive in global markets and create more high-skill jobs,” Andrews said.

Established in 2015, the AMGC is designed to connect local manufacturers to global supply chains, lift managerial and workforce skills and improve sector-wide collaboration.

It is currently working on more than 40 collaborative projects worth more than $33 million to demonstrate best practice for new manufacturing technologies and processes.
